oof. Yeah. Been working my butt off lately ... between 5-7am until to about 2am ---
many projects hitting all at same time.

Since my class is entry level beginner, and did not really have any SQL background,
the first night (4.5 hours) is filled up with
basic SQL statements, best practices, etc. Then we do a couple of sample pages
introducing them to <cfoutput>, creating variables,
outputting those vars, DateFormat, the fun "Hello World" stuff. And that fills a first
night, depending upon energy of class.

We used Mastering ColdFusion 4.5 as a textbook. Was an excellent aid.

The rest of the curriculum I custom tailored (from my memory) to the pace of the
students. Since I have been doing it for so long, I
usually make it up as I go along, not necessarily sticking rigidly to a set outline.
Sometimes the class sweeps you in a direction
that's suited for them. And I always do a class project that comes from their ideas.

For instance, one of them was interested in developing an online magazine, so we did a
class project based on that. Once everyone
wanted to do a human resources type app, so we did that. I'm pretty flexible, and it's
important that everyone have a good time.

The last day of class we even all go out afterwards for a celebratory drink and pizza.

I can send you my course outline if you would like? I have it in a word doc. Always
willing to help the future President! <grin>
