That's definitely true - there's a lot of politicking going on here. 
Certainly the raiding of social security must be stopped and both
parties have done it.

However: the whole point of Social Security is to provide a guaranteed
income and thus prevent the costs associated with penniless seniors.

The main reason for Dems should be because the State should take care
of its citizens.  The main reason for Republicans should be because
they don't like dealing with frozen dead old people in front of their
houses' - then they'd have to pay to get them moved off to the dump. 
:-)

If more savings is what the Bush Administration wants, they why not
just add some new types of tax free savings accounts?  Why privatize
SS?  It messes with the whole point of it in favor of a marketing
gimmick.

* If you don't like SS, then kill it.

* If you want Americans to retire with more $$ then encourage it with
new tax free savings plans.
