This reminds me of the time I was a school bus monitor for K-3 kids.
One day, one of the third graders punched and knocked down one of the
kindergarten kids. So, I made her go to the front seat and sit by
herself. And, I told her that when we got to her stop, I was going to
get off the bus with her and she was going to tell her mom what had
happened. So, we get to her stop and I get off and Molly is whipping
out the tears big time. She's sobbing and sobbing, so I ask her,
"Molly, do you want to tell your mom what happened, or should I?" "You
should," she chokes out. So, I explain to her mom. Her mom's response?
"How dare you humiliate my daughter in front of all her friends? How
dare you make her sit in the front seat?!?" *sigh* I very patiently
explained to her that those were the bus rules and that Molly would be
sitting in the front seat for the next three days, and that an apology
was expected. Molly's mom drove her to school for the next three days.

Ugh.
