OK, you're right, and I already knew that.  However, prices have climbed
significantly in the past four years and it impacts the economy.  At 32
years old, I'm hardly old enough to remember the prices of the gas shortage
of the 70s, but I am old enough to remember gas at 79 cents/gallon.  I
remember gas at 98 cents/gallon just a few years ago.  So even though the
actual price of gas is not at an all time high using the Consumer Price
Index and adjusted for inflation, it's still risen quite a bit in a short
period of time, and there's an impact on economy of the US, which was the
whole point of the thread in the first place.

I don't understand why everybody keeps complaining about the price of oil.
"The price hasn't been so high since the first Gulf War blahblahblah". Duhh,
take into account 14 year 5% inflation and the price is lower then it was
during the first Gulf War.
