I don't drive in traffic at all, so my mileage would suck. Besides, I figure driving 8,000 miles a year is my gift to mother earth. Believe me, if I could work from home and drive 2,000 miles a year, I would. Given how far apart everything is here in SoCal, I doubt I could get away with it even then.
If I still lived in UTC in my old condo and worked from home, I could survive day to day with one of those scooter thingies, although that wouldn't get me to the beach with my surfboard and all of my gear. Hence the Escape.
