Politicians of all stripes have their heads in the sand, which
includes you if you're differentiating, and have had for decades.

It was the democrats that brought this issue up a decade ago, but the
reforms were opposed by Republicans. Now we've got new reforms (small
and/or worthless as they are) from the Republicans that are being
opposed by the Democrats.

Translation: which ever party is in power proposes, the other opposes,
and nothing gets done.

As for the life expectancy, it's been rising since forever, so it's
not like it wasn't expected. That's kind of like saying that the
reason you're bankrupt is because all of the bills showed up.

The plain truth is that the problem lies with us; we spend all of our
time blaming the other party and electing people that do nothing.
There was almost a breakthrough with Ross Perot, but he showed his
loony side at exactly the wrong time.

The last 5 years has seen the complete failure of the Republican party
to do anything that they claimed they would. The truth is we don't
have a 90s variety Republican in office, we've got some twisted Janus
of a Republican that talks the same but does the opposite.

This President's domestic priorities have been clear:

1.) Advocate for the Religious Right.
2.) Enact policies that are short term beneficial for the rich.

At least up until now that's the list of accomplishments.
