Hm. Weird. I got my license on my 16th birthday and drove myself to
school the next day. But, I grew up in the country - we all got our
license's ASAP and driving was a necessity.

I did get into 2 accidents before I was 17 - but neither was my fault
- one was a truck that blew a stop sign and broadsided me and the
other was a 6 year old that ran out onto a highway from behind a snow
bank.

My parents made me get right back in the car after both accidents. In
fact, after the broadsided one (the car was totalled), I got in a
different car and drove myself to work - and ended up being only a
couple of hours late.
