There are some people who will never consider force justified, period.

Then there are those who feel that force may be justified, but want that
force directed against the right people, and in an appropriate manner.

Then there are those, of whom I don't think anyone here would be numbered,
who just want to use force: for revenge, to further their own agenda, to
increase their own power or wealthy.

Bombing innocents in some foreign country because they happen to live in
proximity to the supposed villains accomplishes nothing.

None of the actions taken by the government since 9/11 have truly improved
security, and none of them would have prevented the 9/11 attacks if they
had been in place before 9/11.

Draconian laws that allow star-chamber military tribunals and the secret
detention of anyone our current crop of politicos find suspicious
accomplishes nothing but to grant powers to those politicians that would
never be granted under normal circumstances.

Removing the economic incentives for supporting terror is a good place to
start, but the only real solution is to identify, arrest and bring to trial
under public scrutiny the actual culprits, not some straw men set up
because it is convenient for the interests in power.

So here are my thoughts on what needs to happen now:

1. Appropriate force against appropriate targets: the villains, not the
convenient scapegoats. Go in with that specific target in mind, extract
them and bring them to a public trial, not a star chamber processing, and
not by bombardment of innocents.

2. Stop lying to and defrauding the citizens, stop passing laws designed to
fatten the coffers of the greedy and wrapping them in national security
wrappers.

3. Enforce security messages as a weapon against terror, not as a means to
circumvent civil liberties.

Anything less is more of an attack on freedom the planes hitting the towers.

JMO, which as you know, is never humble.
