I'm going to answer both mails in one to save boring those that don't want
to have the chore of deleting this multiple mails in this thread.

Enemy? Is someone out to get me?

But what of all of the points that I raised in my response? You seem to have
avoided answering every single one of them instead falling back to what
seems like standard right wing rhetoric...

C'mon Sam surely you can do better? I really am interested in your response.
What are your thoughts on the points I raised about the allies in WW 2 for
instance? Or maybe you'd rather tackle the point I raised regarding the
deployment of the military forces from the European nations in Iraq fighting
alongside the US? You choose, I leave it up to you.

As for your point regarding whether it's the conservatives or the liberals
destroying Europe and the US. Who is in power in the US right now? Why is
the economy apparently going down the toilet? Are you saying that the
current administration isn't even a little bit responsible for the
situation?

In Europe, well, I admit there are issues. Things are far from perfect. I
don't blame the liberals for this. I don't blame the conservatives either.
What you have to realise is that Europe on the whole is a *very* diverse
place. This is what makes it strong. This is also why things take so long to
change and why sometimes member states disagree. Europe has a long history
of war. We have member states who have been blood enemies for longer than
the US has existed. This depth of history is part of each and every nation
and it takes a long time to overcome. It is our respective culture. In my
response to you, I had a minor stab at France, but you should know that I
have lived there, I own and listen to French music, I like their way of life
and if I had the chance to live there again, I would.

You see, Europe is currently trying to reach beyond the common histories of
the member states in an effort to build strong and lasting relationships
that will ensure our part of the world remains at peace. There will always
be areas where the member states differ, disagree and even fight (hopefully
in a non-military sense) over points of debate. It is part of the evolution
of our political infrastructure. This process is not destroying Europe; on
the contrary, it is making it far stronger than it has ever been before.

I don't drink because I have a medical condition so I don't bother visiting
many pubs these days. I couldn't comment on what the alcohol fuelled masses
have to say about world affairs. I do know that when I did go to pubs and
clubs they were never the place to have a sensible or reasoned debate about
politics because everyone was far too busy getting hammered!

I couldn't comment on Moores' "Fakumentary" as you call it because I've
never seen any of his work. Not one piece. Sorry to burst your bubble but
from what I have seen of Michael Moore, I believe he has his own agenda too.
My perception of Michael Moore that he is a master editor with a particular
talent of making film and audio footage fit his version of the facts and he
knows how to manipulate the media. Somewhere between his version and your
version of "the facts" I would guess there is the truth of the matter. In
reality however, there is only perception; including mine.

>From where I stand, Moore is just as biased as the author of the article you
posted. Both of these positions are dangerous and should be shunned.

> It's quite entertaining. I imagine you live in a

If that is what you think about me after reading my response then you must
have a poor imagination and for that you have my pity.

For the record, my IQ is 179, I read, I listen and I watch - *a lot*. I am
not so weak willed that I follow the opinions of the media blindly. I form
my own opinions based on discussion, the media and my own personal
experiences. My life is and has been far from sheltered. I have had the good
fortune to have lived and worked in the UK, America and mainland Europe
(France and the Netherlands). My 'crowd' if you want to call it that is made
from an eclectic group of people and I count amongst my friends surgeons,
lawyers, lecturers and engineers. They are intelligent, of sound mind and as
far away as possbile from being Michael Moore groupies.

Oh yes, I am not clueless either.
