Because that's how liberals think and that's who created it. Of course I totally agree with you and I'd revamp the program in one of 2 ways: 1.) I'd kill it and turn it into Welfare (assuming we don't want old people expiring on our door steps), or 2.) I'd exempt people that can show they have $X when they are Y years from retirement. There'd be some formula.
