The tri is March 11th and the distance for that is 400 yard swim/5 mile
bike/2 mile run. I don't really have a goal in terms of time for it, as I'm
not sure what's realistic. But, I'm feeling more confident now after doing
these last couple of bricks. I'd like to be able to do that run at a 6mph
pace, at least. Running on a treadmill is easier than on a track or on the
street - no inclines and constant pace. I'm looking at this tri as a
training tri for the June 3rd sprint distance one.

I think you should just go with what's comfortable for you, in terms of
speed. Don't worry about going fast yet. You're buidling up endurance and
conditioning your muscles right now. Eventually, you can work on speed. I
find that it's not my legs that hurt when I increase speed - it's my lungs.
The fast you go the greater the cardio workout. You'll get there eventually.
Besides, your goal is to a marathon. I have no such lofty aspirations. I'm a
short distance runner. Long distance runners always go slower than short
distance runners.
