I'm still pretty sick of this topic, but I have a couple of comments:

First of all, I had not heard this story about the imam, and it sounds true and
explains a bit. So thanks for posting it.

Second of all, there is in fact, I am told, considerable xenophobia in Denmark,
and there have been laws passed making it difficult for Danes to marry non-EU
citizens. I believe I have previously mentioned that my oldest son lived in
Denmark for a couple of years. He is quite vehement on the topic as he is a
Canadian citizen and many of these laws, while directed at the Muslim
population, also apply to him. He believes that the cartoons were originally
published as a sort of racist incitement. So there may be some basis for
frustration among Muslims. On the third hand, he also feels that there are
legitimate questions about the place of markedly different subcultures in a
closed society such as Denmark, which is homogenous to the point where most
people are distantly related.

The above is offered in hopes it may shed some light. I personally think that
people are people but some here seem to think otherwise and to not want to hear
other points of view. Jerry, I think I am making these comments in reply to one
of your posts, so let me specifically mention, before I upset you again, that I
do not mean you.
