yes, I know you think it's a free speech issue. As far as I know, there is no 
law against what the newspaper did, so therefore they were entitled to do it. I 
don't think they were wise, nor, given what I am hearing, do I think that their 
motives were pure. I see hidden agendas on both sides, myself. 

It may be a variation on what someone else was saying a few days ago -- the 
government is not preventing anyone from being insulting, but they should be 
prepared for the consequences if they engage in the behaviour.

I do think it is possible that the demonstrators are not familiar with  a 
non-government press, and this would yes, indicate a level of ignorance. 
Somewhat like confusing Holland and Denmark, or thinking that the Iraqis will 
throw rosebuds at American soldiers ;\
