it's illegal but it is a trffic offense which is not the same thing as a 
misdemeanor. You would not go to jail for running a stop sign. At worst you 
would pay a fine or get a point on your license. A misdemeanor is oh, I think 
drunk in public is a misdemeanor -- you possibly can go to jail, though you 
probably wouldn't unless you made a habit of it.
