Her origin has been rewritten a number of times. She has telepathy and telekinesis
from her mother but that's not her mutant ability (mutant means different from the
parent). Her mutant power is to send her mind/soul/astral self/whatever back in time.
This was enhanced with the phoenix force to send her back in time, which also
fragmented her memories.
She did a lot of weird stuff in excaliber which is for another time. One storyline had
the leader of the team lost in time. He then started to switch places with her a bunch
till it was found that either she went or he never returned. She left and that was it
for them. From there, she became a plot element as the founder of a future mutant
society that raised Cable, who happened to be the son of cyclopse and madoline prior
(see other post). She was seen a number of times and places in this role but somehow
recently came back. She was 'trapped' at the end of time by a bad guy, bla, bla, bla.
Marvel loves to screw up time lines, continuity, etc.
