No, his claws and bones are the result of a black ops experiment. Later we learned 
that he has natural claws and the experiment only coated them (as some people know 
from old issues). His healing ability, senses and such are all natural.
But again, he's a character who's been rewritten so many times that nailing down the 
'truth' is a massive pain. Hence the need for the origins comic. That is, other than 
Marvel's need for money.
