Ok, getting old and dying is one thing, it's part of the natural order.. But
if you can prevent suffering, or allow those who's bodies are broken to be
normal again.

Isn't it worth the effort to be able to do the research?
And by the way, it will get done, the US may not do it, but it will get
done. I hope that if I contract Alzheimer's or suffer a debilitating spinal
cord injury that I'll be able to reap the benefits of that research.

My point being that some people do indeed attach life to the embryo.
Religious or not, there are people who think this is or was a living being.
Therefore, preventing the benefit of the research may prevent other evils -
like fetus farming. Imagine women getting pregnant only to abort their
fetus to sell the stem cells. These kinds of things are going to happen,
Bush veto or not.

To address your concerns, I may be one of the people who thinks getting old
and dying is just another part of life. I think our culture's emphasis on
immortality is a fault.

None of the above should be used to determine my opinion on the matter.
It's private.
