I guess I really don't see the problem. Yes, personal things get discussed
in email, but still. I think where you are coming from, is that (to use a
purely hypothetical situation) if you write to your sister saying that your
mom is starting to lose it and you may need to look for a home that serves
Alzheimer's patients, and your sister uses gmail, she may see ads for such a
home on the margins of her email. I still don't see this as a bad thing. She
can click them or not. Whereas on the few occasions where I have watched TV
recently I have not had any choice about watching political attack ads or
ads for erectile disfunction, short of turning off the television.
