I looked at all those links, I like the little notes about Ram configuration, like the Apple using 4 512 sticks, and the Dell using 2 1gig sticks or 1 2gig stick. In several the Dell comes with a monitor, while the Mac doesn't. I can always spec out a more expensive system, it isn't hard.
Apple doesn't make the motherboard, or the processor, they were both designed and manufactured by Intel. I'm pretty sure Lucent still makes the wireless stuff for them. Apple isn't a hardware company anymore than Dell is. Dell has a logo they put on the box, just like Apple does. Apple doesn't make hard drives, so what does apple make in terms of hardware? The iPod, and now the iPhone. Dell made an mp3 player and a PDA, but other than that they make a case to put Intel or AMD stuff in. My point on the lenses is that every vendor makes lenses to fit various needs. I go with Lenses that have constant 2.8 or bigger apertures with silent motors, and usually vibration reduction. You can get what you want based on your budget and your need. Nikon just like Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, and Vivitar have multiple product lines with different targets. With each company you can get better glass, metal construction smoother focusing, and you'll pay more for them. But I don't like paying more for a name, when two companies have identical quality regarding the hardware. I bought a Sigma Pro 28-70 for 300 instead of the same Nikon for $800. I used them both before I bought them, compared the output and made my choice because the images were the same. For my 70-200 f2.8 I did the same thing, and bought the Nikon. Sure it was cost I think $1300 more than the comparable Sigma, but the images were better and the Vibration Reduction was great, features that Sigma didn't offer at the time. > -----Original Message----- > From: Dave l [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Sunday, February 25, 2007 10:09 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Why Vista is a rip off of OS X > > if that was true then you could run any dell witith vista ultimate and > all the aero stuff would work, but as we know it doesnt, yet it will > work on any intel mac . > > They do use some of the graphic cards and ram but Apple is a hardware > company mostly, so im going on a limb here but Im gunna say they use > some of their own hardware lol > > as far as the dell being cheaper, maybe maybe not but a lot of people > have compared them. > > http://www.macworld.com/2006/08/features/macproprice/index.php > http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6625581.html > http://www.applematters.com/index.php/section/comments/is-the-mac-pro- > really-cheaper-than-a-dell/ > http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7592_102- > 0.html?forumID=25&messageID=2078828&threadID=192211 > http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/blogs/index.cfm?blogid=4&entryid=342 > http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/27/technology/business2_browser0227/index. > htm > > on the photos, you kinda answered my point and > "They are cheaper because they use fewer smaller elements, and the > light metering doesn't work as well." > well that maybe the case on nikons but on most others you get better > quality glass, you get better construction (maybe metal over plastic, > or stronger plastics), on canons you also get weather and dust seals, > etc.. > > "But you are right, the cheaper lenses use cheaper components.
