I live in Buffalo and as a Sr. Application Developer with over 7 years
experience I'm pulling in a little over 50. In our neck of the woods
that's *just* enough for my wife to stay home with our two kids.
She's actually taking on one of those "party" sales jobs (Signature
Homestyles) to bring in some extra spending money.
I'm compassionate enough to give what I can when I can to charities
and organizations that help those that are worse-off than I am but I
am personally insulted that the government wants to take my taxes and
spend them on healthcare for families that make almost TWICE what I
make.

Even worse, imagine paying $700/mo for full family medical insurance
as a sole proprietor. I did just that for two years when I had my own
business... and that was a DISCOUNTED RATE because I went through a
company that acted as an organizational level for group policies!
Going direct to the insurance company would have set me back well over
$1000/mo.

Doesn't stop me from saying that it's not the government's place to
pay for the healthcare of a 21 year old who's parents rake in $80k+.
Put another way, any taxes that YOU pay will go towards that as well
if this plan went through.
> Why must we pick on the middle even more? Oh, yeah- duh!
Depends on where you define the middle, and I guarantee you that the
suits in both chambers of Congress put the middle a lot lower than
where you and I do.
