That I will agree with. I've outlined a very progressive counter insurgency operation that we could follow before. I know that members of the Special Operations community have put forward the same ideas. Combined arms attacks into strongholds. Establishment of local areas of control, essentially what they are doing now with the PRCs, but that may be too little too late. If you ask me we should have instantly switched to that sort of operation after the final collapse of the Baath Regime. Heavy on civil affairs and psyops and lightning strikes against insurgent cells.
I just hope the fall out against Iraq doesn't make us withdraw from Afghanistan. That would be a disaster.
