I had the same thoughts. Can you imagine the buzz something like that would make across a valley? Holy crap! I suppose it would be possible to engineer a material that would be quiet and take the stress for a decent amount of time, but how much would that cost and would it be worth it? While it's a pretty cool initial idea, it seems like more of a novelty than a useful idea.
