been put in to place on a house-by-house basis in Haiti.

It is *not* a large-scale application in terms of generation.  They
are powering "radios, clocks and LED Lights" for the poor.  At that
consumption level the physics are much more bearable.

With the article come numbers, some rather impressive ones:
"Prototypes have generated 40 milliwatts in 10-mph slivers of wind,
making his device 10 to 30 times as efficient as the best
microturbines."
