My outlet is riding. When I have had a bad week or even a bad day, I
will load the quad into the truck, drive for about 15 minutes to El
Mirage, and ride my ass off for an hour or so. It gives me time to think
and clear my head, and sometimes I have come up with good ideas on a
block of code I am stuck on.

This weekend was spent in Glamis. Great dunes. Went for my first night
ride ever which was an ingesting challenge. Imagine riding up and down a
series of sand dunes, and your lights, as bright as they are, only shine
about 10-20 feet in front of you, and when you are cresting one all you
see is pitch black until you get over the other side of it. Although I
cannot think about programming or anything else other than riding, I
did not do too bad except for the one dune I misread, and me and the
quad ended up tumbling on down. I bailed out and it chased me all the
way down a 60' dune. It went side over side 6 1/2 times, and when I
finally stopped rolling and jumped out of the way of it, the thought of
having a 500+ lb machine smash into you seems to help me forget my other
trivial issues. Except for a sore arm and wrist, and wounded pride, I
am fine and I feel a lot better.
