You're not getting it. analogy time:

firefighters. dangerous job, one they choose. But the "ruling
bargain" is that fires are random accidents.

But what about arsonists you ask? The fires aren't random. Exactly.
That's when the whole community would pitch in to both put out the
fires and catch the arsonist. So arson is analogous to war: the whole
community chips in and "fights". Once the arsonist is caught, back to
normal operations: I got back to my job, you to yours, and the
firefighters continue to train.

But let's say a small section of the community of the decided it was
ok to be arsonists, and started fires on purpose. I'm not going to
chip in to help them, and I"m going to fight to chip in to change the
law that allows them to do it. Further I'm going to try to keep
firefighters from fighting these fires that are "legal", but
definitely not accidents or caused by "arsonists". This is analogous
to Iraq.

So what I"m saying is that Robert is advocating his starting of the
"legal" fires, but asking the firefighters to fight them.

That violates the ruling bargain. therefore if Robert wants to start
fires, he should fight them; because firefighters didn't sign up to do
that.
