Well....right now is the best time. We generally try to gauge our outings based upon the weather (instead of hard dates). Ideally, you have a wet early spring (like we've had this year), then you wait for the the weather to warm up for a stretch of time, particularly at night. Once this occurs, sometime roughly between about April 15th and early May, that's the time to head out.
I think you could find morels the rest of this week in KC, and maybe early into next week. But the window is small....the morels we found yesterday were quite fresh...in a few days, they won't be as fresh, and the ones that are popping up over the next few days will only be good for a few days after that......
