For full disclosure I should mention that technically I used to be a lobbyist.

I worked for/with a large industry lobbying organization and probably
spent 1 month a year in DC working a few blocks from the Whitehouse.

Only my job was industry data exchange standards for civil and
military aircraft.

But the committee I chaired was a sub-group of a large industry
lobbying organization.

Which brings up the point that there are lobbyists and then there are lobbyists.

My group would meet with legislators to educate them on why standards
were important and why there could save the industry billions per year
not to mention avoid injury and death.

To me, I was the good kind of lobbyist.

The bad kind is the kind that trades money for legislation.

(for you military guys, if you've ever used S1000D or read
documentation you may have seen my work :)
