Maybe on the surface ... but just playing devil's advocate:

1.) You really think, say, Obama who raised $500,000,000 over the
internet is going to cross ethics for $100,000? Even Dodd ... that's
not very much money; he could raise that in 30 seconds. I'd be more
suspicious if there could be some promise of future money but AIG is
worse off than bankrupt so I can't see how that'd make any sense.

2.) Amongst 10 billion issues it's hard to see why he'd lie unless
he's protecting something REALLY big. AIG or bonuses wouldn't seem to
meet that threshold. I mean AIG bonuses are everything Obama has
worked his entire life against. This is guy who could've been a
multi-millionaire wall st lawyer but turned it down to be community
organizer. His wife walked too. Hard to believe all of a sudden they
betray their entire lives for a $100k from a now defunct company.

If he did lie, it may have been because of the blow up he knew could
come, but if that was the case he'd be out there explaining why the
bonuses were necessary. He's doing exactly that with housing, his
budget, and the bank bailouts which are trillions so lie about this?

For me something doesn't add up.

Occom's Razor would say they were truly clueless about this - which
given all the crap isn't AT ALL surprising.

But a slightly less probable reason is a combination of mildly
clueless and protecting The Big Plan.

Which I think is coming and would be consistent with Obama's profile.

I guess we'll find out ...
