I look at these things through the lens of Civics 101 and history and it's hard not to cry. Why? Simple - as a conservative and as a member of the GOP I was and continue to be appalled by much of what came out of Washington. For the last 8 years I've seen someone who was elected as a moderate conservative turned into a plain moderate. I also saw a solid Republican majority have their spines removed in the name of "bipartisanship". In recent posts I've seen folks bashing the concept of tax cuts as a failure. Given the scenario that we witnessed in the recent past I can't completely disagree. Why? Simple - tax cuts without spending control and reduction in the size of government will do nothing to ease a budget crisis. And now we have more of the same. We have a Congress that passes a bill without reading it and then drumming up sheer HATRED (including death threats) when the very legislation they pass is followed. We have a President that would rather talk to Jay Leno on the Tonight Show rather than look like he's involved in fixing any mess. I thought Obama's message was about change. Even if I don't agree with most of the man's plans (and personally hope they don't make it through Congress or get stopped at the Judicial level) there were elements that he proposed that I liked, especially in the area of public information and transparency. Those were action points that would evoke true change in Washington, make the government more accountable to the people again. And none of that has happened. Let the AIG executives keep their bonuses, I want my change back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:292251 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
