"use whatever" - Let's say you're president and I'm one of your
trusted lieutenants. You hear about Bin Laden with the first week and
tell me, "Gruss, put a team together - use whoever and whatever you
need - and define the UBL threat. I want to know if he's a concern or
not and why or why not and I want to see data". That would've
resulted in a a detailed UBL briefing in the spring. Further you'd
ask me to find out how the UBL data was coming in. For example, to
define a UBL 'sipoc' that shows who's saying what, why, how, and when.
And you also ask me for recommendations and next steps. Another name
for that role might be "national security advisor". Too bad we didn't
have one of those.

Clinton & UBL - when it comes to nat'l security the president owns it
on day 1. It's his job to define the threats and protect the nation
against them. Bush failed to do that with UBL and we got hit. His
fault 100%. That's what we hire him for and he failed. period. If
he doesn't want that responsibility he doesn't volunteer. That's what
leadership is.

Clinton & the economy - you got it. Clinton signed into law the 2
Acts that dismantled Glass Stegal and then enabled the creation of
legalized betting with massive leverage. Clinton uses the electricity
argument: it's a power for good but Bush let people stick forks into
the socket. The truth is Clinton should've never signed the Acts
until they included the regulatory mechanisms. But again, economic
security is what we hired Bush for and he failed. 100% his fault.

Seems that people have forgotten (or don't know?) what a leader is.
They make excuses. The worst possible leader, of course, is one who
not only fails but fails to accept accountability.

Bush is such a leader.
