On rhetoric to efficacy so far: D On communications management: B On working through congress: A We can't really judge him on passed initiatives as it's too early and I'm not going to count the stimulus. My suspicion is that he's taking a Rahm-led through-the-congress approach to everything and therefore his outward communication is very broad. The bills as they appear now seem to be watered down slop that I wouldn't think would change much. We've talked quite a bit about healthcare and I don't like his approach. I'm a swiss/dutch system guy which means I favor a government that sets the rules then asks private industry to provide the products and services. That's tough to do in America because Congress wants the money, not the work. If we ask Congress to craft some kick-ass healthcare regulation that's an industry game changer they think: 1.) "Gee, that sounds like work..." 2.) "My donors will HATE me ..." 3.) "Wait. You mean I do a bunch of work but don't get any tax dollars for my efforts??? Feck that." So what we really need is government regulation and what we're getting is systemic gifts to every constituent including Congress at tax payer expense.
