Hey, last I heard, you worked in the Health Informatics industry. In
other words you're an industry shill too right?

But I say we try a reasonable conversation without the emotional screeds.

Let's take a use-case and go back to the UPS example.

If what you're saying is true we should be able to eliminate the
administration and insurance variable - as we can with UPS - and UPS's
medical costs per same age retiree should be mostly the same since the
70s. Do you think they are?

Further, when we look at their per-claim processing cost, you'd argue
those costs should've risen drastically (no IT productivity gains for
example). Do you think they did?

I'm going to bet - and it's just a bet - that their medical costs per
retiree have skyrocketed while their admin costs have actually stayed
the same or dropped.

No if my bet is right, we could get a good understanding of the entire
supply chain by replacing "UPS" with "group" and that would summarize
the problem.

And further if my bet is right, we'd probably hear a lot of Obama's
healthcare experts talk about:

* "bending the cost curve" by

-- Driving data transparency to enable service comparison and "pure
profiling"

-- Creating standard medical policies & procedures to reduce variation

   -- Focusing on evidence-based care

   -- Defined cost controls

-- Incenting the demand side to seek value

-- Incenting the supply side to deliver value

And, in fact, they are!

So you must think all those Obama hires REALLY suck.
