You must learn to let go of your fears Scott ... you must FEEL the data ...

This it THE HARDEST concept for any geek to learn. Ever take
calculus? If you were like me you heard all of the slope crap, said,
"easy I get it!", then failed. Then studied, then had an epiphany.
This is the same thing.

Answer First is really tough for science/engineering types. Yet
without that skillset you are really a mental blue coller worker -
which is fine, the best pilots are such - but you may want more.

Take Global Warming.

The real questions there are:

(1.) Is Earth's warming a critical problem for humans?

(2.) If so, will the current trend continue?

(3.) If so, is there anything we can do about it?

Can we ever gather enough data to KNOW the answers BEFORE the problem
is irreversible (assuming there is one)? No.

So we have to answer first. We have to quess/estimate/manage risk.

Certainly we should gather more data BUT.

We should Answer First, THEN gather data.

And the answer - the scientific theory - is that the Earth will warm
and we'll die.
