I see a lot of interracial couples around where we live (about an hour
Northwest of DC in the Eastern Panhandle of WV). Most time I notice I
will see one parent with a child or children and the kid(s) have much
lighter or darker skin than the parent, that is usually when I notice
the other parent. I don't notice if anyone ever looks at them funny.

Not sure if this is gonna come out right or not, but I will give it a
shot. When it comes to an interracial couple where one person is white
and the other is black, their kids are usually absolutely freakin'
adorable.
