yes, I think CAFE ought to be a lot more strict and all those crazy loopholes should be closed up.
I also think you're not the majority when it comes to the typical consumer. Look at what you drive and how you picked your appliances. If more people were like you, there'd be a lot less SUV's and trucks on the road today. There wouldn't be an option to have non-energy star appliances because the manufacturers would realize customers wouldn't buy them. +100 on the kenmore thing. I learned the hard way.
