Well, many of us don't really believe this is a part of the Bible that is telling of a historical event. I personally believe it's an allegory designed to illustrate man's constant breaking away from God, rather than depiction of something that actually happened. What we believe is that God gave us free will, and opportunity to commune with him and he required obedience to his law, and man made the free choice to disobey the law and break away from God, and that broken world is the one we continue to live in. So the question would end up being, why give us free will at all? Because God wants children that *choose* to obey him, not ones that are merely forced to do so. He certainly will punish those that fail to obey (such punishment being eternal separation from him) but he always gives us the choice. --- Mary Jo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
