Isn't this already true for a traffic stop?

So is it the stop you object to (which this law in no way changes, or
allows), or is it the added ability to check immigration status during the
stop?

If it is the immigration check itself, do you think it should never be
allowed? That it is always immaterial to society? That the police should
ignore even outright proof of immigration status?

Is it the asking for papers you object to, or the caring at all about
status??

Or is it the potential for abuse that you are objecting to? An increase in
pull-overs JUST to check status? (driving while Mexican, as it is being
coined)?

For example, if I am pulled over, I am going to be asked for license and
insurance, right? for any traffic stop? If I produce it, I am done. No
change here.
If not, then the officer, in any state with or without this law, is going to
try to determine who I am. They are going to radio in the information I
give, and in most cases, get a picture of my license on their incar screen.
At which point I am done. No change here.

If, during the course of that investigation, the police officer determines
that I absolutely am illegal, what do YOU think should be done at that
point?
