If the Republican legislators who passed this bill had backed
comprehensive immigration reform, this wouldn't be an issue.

Don't try and blame the federal government for a shitty state bill.
This is a naked power grab and it isn't about the police. The police
have plenty to do busting people for crimes with actual victims. I
don't like illegal immigration and we seriously need to make some
legitimate progress in solving the problem. I just don't see how you
can rationalize this bill as being any sort of good.

On the bright side, I do hope that it spurs comprehensive reform at
the national level. But that is still no excuse for the misuse of
government represented by this bill.
