I've picked up a couple of tour guides for this area, both of them said (and
one in all caps) not to drive on the beltway or in the district during rush
hour. When I was commuting into the district, I always felt sorry for those
poor tourists driving their huge behemoth of an RV, and stuck in the middle
of the traffic on the beltway. Then I remembered that they have at least
some of the comforts of home. Imagine, if traffic is not going anywhere for
a while, you can set up the satellite dish, watch the tube, crack a beer...
