The legal definition of a blockade is that all vessels attempting to penetrate the blockade must be stopped or it is not considered a blockade. The response may have been excessive, though from all I've been reading I doubt it. As for Taiwan, I think that China realizes that its not a physical threat to it. Besides the government of China finds Taiwan too useful. As for Korea, the south Korean government is being quite restrained after considerable provocation. but they realize how much of a mad dog regime they are facing. over 30 million people are within artillery range of the DMZ. Unless they are equally insane they are not going to shoot, yet. so lets try another one.
