Nice bit of insinuendo there (insinuation + innuendo). If anything there have been fewer incidents with Socialism than most other political philosophies. For instance, how many Norwegian, Danish or Swedish atrocities have occurred in the past? Or for that matter how many Canadian ones? All these countries you would consider socialist. Now compare that to the so called Capitalist nations (e.g., Britian, Belgium - think of the Congo, United States, to name 3).
As for greed and self-interest, it would seem that they want to reel it in and put it back where they think it belongs, corporate America.
