Why? If this legislation is based on the (perceived) cruelty and not on 
the religious side why would it be struck down? I don't think the 
Mormons ever got the "no polygamy" laws struck down, did they? Yet it 
can be argued that that law prohibits them from leading the life their 
religion tells them to lead.

All our opinions are shaped by the information we receive every day. If 
your sources of information happen to be biased in some way or another, 
you will be influenced by that. That is just a fact of life, discussion 
of which IMHO is hardly worth the effort (but by all means feel free).

Sorry, no passing cows. Due to recent legislation regarding the emission 
of dangerous greenhouse gasses from the gastrointestinal channel of 
bovines cows are not allowed in the wild anymore.
