I think quite a bit less actually. Wide (East - West), maybe 60 miles. 
High (North - South) maybe 200.

I think that if you ask Scotty to beam you from Gaza to Jerusalem the 
distance proves to be quite a bit more as from say London to New York. 
Distance should not always be measured in units of length.
