How fast after Clinton left did the economy start having problems? Let's see now, this is the second year and the economy started south when? So, GW is soooo bad that just electing him caused a recession? Come on now. Programmers/System folks are generally more logical then that.
Generally speaking, the President's first term economy is the previous president's work and the second term economy results from their work. I've also heard solid arguments that the President has very little to do with the economy in any case. And WHO has control of the spending? Democrats. They control both houses and therefore control spending. They need to bare a large portion of the burden of the issue. So, either Clinton and Republican congress killed the economy or Bush and the Democrats did. Either way, both parties need to do some reforming. And remember, GW went to business school before most the grade inflation occurred. Also, it depends on the class. All that said, GW is not and doesn't claim to be a brain surgeon. Clinton was and is very intelligent but was and is a self destructive idiot. Carter was also very bright but might go down as the worst president of all although some of the far right are nominating Clinton. Jimmy is also arguably the best ex-president -- he has done wonderful things. I don't see Clinton in this same light.
