I bought mine (different caliber, stored in a different state) for $600, including the scope. And as for the gov keeping guns from being bought, I have a .22 rifle that my grandfather made for me (including drilling the barrel), and I have a .50 smooth bore that I built (although I bought the barrel from another guy). Making them illegal, and even preventing mass manufacture will not keep guns out of peoples' hands.
