I also prefer to consider choice rather than fate (and what is genetic
predisposition other than modern fate? And, lately, often a way to
explain away responsibility?).

I would agree that a person driven, genetically, to a behavior
(homosexuality, eating, crime, picking your toenails, whatever) can
overcome that drive mentally. However it will always be a challenge (of
a greater or lesser degree) and it does have (I think) a greater
potential for misery than for happiness.

In this case my predisposition is to do what makes you happy (with the
ever present "without harming others" caveat). If denying your sexual
urges would make you happier than accepting them then do that.

However in my experience people that have come out of the closet later
in life are almost always happier than they had been. In most cases, if
they're honest with themselves, the people around them are also happier.
Or it seems so to me... But that's only personal experience.

(Speaking of genetic predisposition... My four-year old just this
instant ran across in front of my desk and slammed his face into the
wall... I really hope he can overcome that behavior before high school.
;^) )
