As a gymnastics and karate mom, I take offense at the demonization of soccer moms. (Even if I don't have an SUV.)
As the daughter-in-law of a smoker who is desperately trying to stop and has now been smoke free for about a week, I take offense at the idea that all smokers should die. Non-smokers have no idea how difficult it is for smokers to stop, how strong that addiction can be. I've been finding out -- I drive my mother-in-law to her Smoker's Cessation meetings. (Now, can we argue without name-calling and without saying that "Group X should die"?) Judith > I do not like the way you demonize those who may disagree with you on > the environment. Its the same as if I called you a greedy, uncaring > arrogant environment raping psychopath. In other words, your > characterization of those who engage in pro-social and > pro-environmental behaviors is completely inappropriate. > > I didn't demonize anyone. I simply made a counter generalization to the >generalization that all SUV owners were either yuppie business people or soccer moms, >which is not the case. Just as my generalization, that all hybrid owners, are >environmentalists, is not the case. However, I see it is ok for you to take anyone >who uses an SUV for what you consider to be not an intended use and impose on them >your will by raising their taxes and telling them they are destroying the >environment. I am assuming you are referring to my calling environmentalists >"wackos", when referring to demonizing them. Tell me Larry how would you >charachterize someone who, throws acid on SUVs, violates people personal property by >sticking bumper stickers on SUV that state, "i'm changing the climte", members of the >ELF that burn down homes because they don't agree with where they are being built. >Those types of behavior to me deserve the classification wacko, and I realize that >not everyone who considers themselves and environmentalist acts this way. Whether I >agree or disagree with someones view point has no bearing on whether or not I >consider someone wacko. So what is the intended use of my SUV then? > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
