It's a lot easier once you get a set amount you are allowed to eat. So if you plan your meals with the points, you could eat the chicken, have the snickers and the coke as long as you budget for it. If you get to that meal and realize that you have enough for 2 of those things, then you start deciding which is more important to you. And you cut that out, eventually you start cutting out all the crap you never needed and use those as treats once in a while. Also exercise helps you earn points, so if you only had enough for 2 of those things, you go walk for 30 minutes, you could have enough for all 3.
