The CFDJ editorial board was asked before the contest what issues had to be dealt with. New categories, security and proper placement were the main things that came up. The new categories are there but need tighter definitions. The security is not there at all (really. I could crack that system in seconds) and there is/was NO control over proper placement of items in the right categories. Maybe next time, unless some other well known CF site doesn't come forward with their own awards first. ;)
So what was this columbine documentary fiasco? > They definitely put products in the wrong categories, and in some cases > didn't really have a category to properly place the product in the first > place. > > Remind anyone of the Columbine documentary fiasco? ^_^ > > -Gel > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael Dinowitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > I have to agree here. A CF Application is an application written *IN* > CF. The HoF archives are a CF application. Blue Dragon (and iMS for that > fact), while making use of CF, are not CF applications. They are Web > Applications (a different category). There are a number of 'wrong' > placements in the awards. For example: Fusetalk is not a ebusiness > software EasyCFM is not a training company (which is why HoF isn't in > that category) MM studio MX is not an editor (Studio, the old editor > from the Allaire days is THE editor) ActiveEdit is a content EDITOR, not > Manager And the examples go on and on. HoF won last year as the best web > service. Well, we are on the web and we do have a service, but the term > "web service" has a specific meaning and we don't really apply. Same > with many of the items in the different categories. And yes, if BD can > be entered then why not CF server. And if CF server is in, it has to win > which makes the whole thing moot. As is, with MM in many of the > categories, they win. period, end of story. > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
