I am reminded of a day long ago - my friend, the single mother of a two year
old, came to work cranky as hell. When I asked her what was wrong she
explained ot me that her son had just figured out he could control some
things in his life. that morning he had insisted he wanted to wear his aqua
socks (remember those:?) to school.

She was used to a compliant 1 1/2 year old, and not used to morning battles
over clothing.

Now her son is 8. She lets him choose his clothes. Its much easier that
way.
